LEICESTER have scheduled a major programme of upgrades and improvements ahead of their entry into the Premiership next season.
The club, who are currently building their top-flight line-up with the headline signings of heat-leaders Max Fricke and Chris Harris already confirmed, have reviewed all aspects of on and off-track business.
The outcome is a winter plan which will improve both the racing and the all-round spectator experience as top-flight action returns to the Paul Chapman & Sons Arena in 2023.
The Lions have purchased all track equipment from Swindon Speedway including a motorway blade, water tanker and crop sprayer. There will also be a hard-standing area on the centre-green which will aid movement of the equipment.
Following the problems last month which resulted in the play-off Grand Finals being switched away from Leicester after heavy rain, new drainage systems will be put in place for next year.
The club have invested in new lighting which will be installed before the start of the season, and they also plan to carry out a full upgrade of the PA system, being aware of fans’ concerns this year.
With track work taking top priority, the club do not expect bikes to be back on the circuit until much closer to the start of the 2023 season.
Talks are continuing with riders regarding the Watling JCB Lions’ 2023 line-up, with further news expected later this week.
Meanwhile the National Development League AGM takes place next Tuesday (November 29) which will determine the structure of the third tier where the Lion Cubs were successful in both the league and KO Cup this year.
